About Mr. DeLane
Welcome! My name is Zac DeLane, and I teach Graphic Design and Yearbook here at Davenport High School. I also serve as the Department Chair of the Career and Technical Education (CTE) Department. This is my third year here in Davenport America, and my second year in public education as a teacher.
I graduated from The University of Texas at Austin (hook 'em!) in 2024 with my Bachelor's in Fine Arts in Design with High Honors. At UT, I was able to foster my passion for education and teaching with my love for creation and thinking. I am also currently working on my Master's in Educational Technology Leadership (M.Ed.) at Lamar University and am expected to graduate in Fall 2027.
I am honored to work with your students and show them the possibilities that design has. We will be making and engaging in a deep creative practice. My main goal is to teach students skills that combine what they're learning in all of their other classes (math, english, science, and social studies) and how it applies to the real world. Students will be learning a lot of hard skills, but also soft skills, to make them more employable. We'll also tackle the real-world effects of artificial intelligence on the practice of graphic design.
I am excited to get started this year. If you need anything at all, please reach out to me by email. A strong education is built on a strong relationship between your student and teachers, and parents and guardians. I am here to support your student in any way I can. Thank you for your partnership!
