Canyon High School welding students are offered a new opportunity with the Texas State Technical College, providing them with hands-on experience and college credit.
The Davenport High School Band has been named the 2027 Texas Music Educators Association 4A Honor Band, placing it among the most distinguished band programs in the state. This is the first school in Comal ISD and the San Antonio area to have earned this coveted title.
As we prepare to welcome students and staff back for the 2026-27 school year, Superintendent Dr. John E. Chapman III takes a few minutes to share what safety and security will look like across Comal ISD this year.
Once more, Comal ISD increased its overall grade for the 2025-2026 school year, receiving an 88 or B rating. This makes it the only public school district with more than 1,500 students in Region 20 that has increased its overall grade every year since 2023.

The Comal ISD Board of Trustees has called a $567 million bond election for November 3, 2026. The proposal includes two propositions addressing safety and security, aging facilities, enrollment growth, student transportation, and classroom technology.
The Comal Independent School District is announcing its policy for providing free and reduced-price meals for children served under the attached current income eligibility guidelines. Each campus as well as the district office has a copy of the policy, which may be reviewed by anyone on request.
For six years, Davenport High School has been 'building the pack,' or as the community likes to say, 'BTP,' creating opportunities for students to find their passions in sports, fine arts, academics, CTE and more. Those efforts have paid off with Davenport earning the coveted 2026 Texas UIL 4A Lone Star Cup, which is based on team performance in district and state championships.
Comal ISD is one of only 39 districts named a Texas Way District of Distinction for its commitment to developing student-athletes not only as competitors, but as leaders and role models in their communities.
