Baseball players from the Canyon Lake High School team helped stock their local food pantry by hosting an annual food drive both on and off campus.

Annually, the district hosts a special awards ceremony to honor campus teachers of the year along with a few special recognitions. Here is a look at this past year's event along with the honorees.

The district's School Age Child Care (SACC) Summer Program will be offered at seven elementary campuses starting June 6. This program gives parents an opportunity to engage their children in both recreational and educational activities throughout the summer.

With family, teammates, coaches and friends watching, 12 Smithson Valley Rangers and six Canyon Cougar student athletes signed National Letters of Intent to play the sport of their choice at the next level.

Every year the competition gets a little tougher as elementary students from across the district hone their interpersonal skills through the Comal Shake Competition. The winning combination is confidence, a strong handshake and the ability to make small talk.

Students from across the district were recognized by the Comal ISD Board of Trustees for the work, practice and talent each displayed in order to qualify for a state competition in robotics, music, cross country and baseball.

The district's second chess tournament showcased players from all grade levels with surprising results - a new district champion team for the high school category. Now, players are busy working on their game strategies for the district's two remaining tournaments.

For 21 years, the Comal Education Foundation has supported innovative programs that make a big difference in the lives of teachers and students, and this year is no exception.

This year's KENS 5 Excel Award winner for Comal ISD is an elementary teacher who goes the extra mile to make sure her students know how much each of them mean to her. Earning her students' trust opens the door to limitless learning opportunities.

This year's Comal ISD KENS 5 All Star Student is the embodiment of resilience. He continues to overcome personal loss with a positive attitude, a strong work ethic and by being involved in school activities.
